De’Longhi EC155 Review

De’Longhi offers one of the world’s best, most affordable espresso machines: De’Longhi EC155. A 15 BAR pump model, the EC155 produces aroma-filled espresso and delicious cappuccino using pods or ground beans, thanks to the machine’s dual-function filter holder.

I was more than happy during my De’Longhi EC155 review for two reasons: the machine is easy to use, and the flavor is better than what my local barista brews up.

De’Longhi EC155 Review

Once you remove the machine from the packaging and remove any tape and accessories, you simply need to plug the machine into the electrical socket and fill it with water. The holding container can hold up to 35 ounces of water. I recommended using fresh filtered water to achieve the best taste with every cup of espresso or your favorite cappuccino.

The water tank is placed in the machine, and the lid is simply closed. You won’t even see it, unlike the Keurig machines that have the tank visible to the user.

Easy to make your first cup of espresso, switch the controls to on and wait for the green light to appear. The machine is self-priming, so you’ll be ready to start brewing in seconds instead of minutes.

The filter holder arm is moved to the left so that you can attach any of the filter baskets available before turning the arm to the right and locking it in place.

You’ll be able to use a small espresso cup or a medium-sized cup right on the drip tray. This will keep your counters from getting any drips of espresso on them. If you want a larger cup of cappuccino, simply remove the drip tray.

Note: You’ll need to prime the machine by running water through it several times.

When brewing, you can use pods or freshly-ground espresso beans. For the best flavor, I recommend using fresh beans every time. In total, you can make 8 – 10 shots of espresso before you need to refill the water.

Heat up time is just one minute, so it’s very fast.

When you make a cappuccino or a latte, you can use the frothing wand to make a delicious froth on top. There is a built-in tamper, but it doesn’t do as good of a job as a manual one.

The following accessories are included:

  • Portafilter
  • Single filter basket
  • Double filter basket
  • Scoop

When it comes time to clean the machine, most of the parts are stainless steel, so you’ll have an easy time with cleanup.

Pros

  • Fast heat up process.
  • Delicious flavor for espresso.
  • Large water container.
  • Comes with a lot of accessories.

Cons

  • Built-in tamper isn’t great.

The EC155 is meant for espresso, so there isn’t room for larger cups. But, the machine is simply amazing for cappuccino and the everyday espresso. The built-in tamper was my only concern. It doesn’t tamp the espresso like I would, but you can manually tamp it for better results.

From cleanup to your first cup of espresso, the EC155 excels.

And, you’ll also have the dual filter, so you can use pods or ground beans. It’s the perfect at-home espresso machine that will leave you with a great-smelling aroma and a cup of espresso to start your day.
